Porter Simon Sierra Injury Lawyers Settle Lake Mead Boat Accident Wrongful Death Lawsuit

According to the Nevada Department of Wildlife, the party responsible for the incident was arrested at the scene of the accident and booked on suspicion or “operating a vessel while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance” and “homicide by vessel.”

Impaired Recreational Boat Operator Arrests on the Rise

According to data from the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, arrests of impaired boat operators were on the rise at the time of the accident. 2022 saw a high of 147 arrests, up from 80 in 2021.

Alcohol use is the primary contributing factor to fatal recreational boat accidents, according to 2022 data from the U.S. Coast Guard. To help raise awareness of the widespread problem, the Coast Guard launched Operation Dry Water which aims to reduce the number of accidents and fatalities caused by alcohol use.
